Cloud computing is currently the most powerful and evolved technological solution that is changing the way businesses used to deal with things. With the arrival of cloud computing, many things in many industries have changed completely and you should also be a part of this change.
Cloud computing has been a hot topic for small businesses since the day of its introduction. While you might think that cloud computing is a small portion of the digital world but it covers a very broad area of the internet. Many businesses understand the advantages of cloud computing and that’s why they move their business to the cloud. This step is also necessary to be in the competition as most of the businesses are now based on advantageous cloud computing.
But before diving into an ocean, it’s better to know its depth and the same rule applies to businesses that are planning to move into the cloud. There are basically three different types of cloud computing modules, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
So let’s go through a detailed explanation of all these three cloud computing stacks so that you can choose the best one for yourself.
SaaS stands for Software as a Service. The simplest definition of SaaS is software which is deployed over the internet. Now let’s make it simple. Think of the application which you use on a daily basis on your desktop. Now imagine using the same software with the same features but with no more need to install it on your local desktop or laptop which means no download and installation. With the help of SaaS, you get anywhere, anytime accessibility because the app is not stored on the local desktop; it’s available on the cloud, which can be accessed from any device with internet access. Hosted applications are the best example of SaaS
The charges in the SaaS are based on either per user basis or per month basis which can be increased or decreased according to the needs of the business or individual. There are numerous benefits of SaaS like reduced IT hassle, high uptime, anywhere, anytime accessibility, multi-user access, improved security, etc.
PaaS stands for Platform as a service and it can be defined as a computing platform that allows quick and easy creation of web applications without any need of buying or maintaining the software for it. You can consider PaaS equal to SaaS but instead of the software on the cloud server, PaaS provides a platform on the cloud server for the creation of software. The main purpose of PaaS is to create a method for programming languages to interact with services like web servers, database, and file storage without taking a load of lower-level requirements like disk space, protecting your data by copying it over different storage spaces, etc. Google App Engine is the best example of PaaS.
The power of PaaS can also be seen in its capability to utilize proprietary data from any number of applications. This capability of PaaS allows the software to be built with a common data type that can be easily integrated with popular CRMs like Salesforce.
IaaS stands for Infrastructure as a service and it is a way of delivering different cloud computing infrastructure like storage, servers, network, operating systems, as a part of on-demand service. Instead of buying servers, data center space, storage, or network equipment, users purchase these resources as an outsourced on-demand service. IaaS can be further classified as public, private, and hybrid cloud. The public cloud allows access to its server to different users while private cloud servers are dedicated to only one. The new addition to these types is the hybrid cloud which is a mix of both private cloud and public cloud.
Choosing the right cloud platform is the key to your success and it all depends on the need, demand, and nature of your businesses. Go through all three cloud modules, understand their benefits and drawbacks and then choose the most appropriate cloud stack for your company.
